Book a Try Shooting Session

In New South Wales, anyone aged 12 and over can participate in a Try Shooting activity, regardless of gender, as the program is fully inclusive. Participants aged 12 to 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and may need to provide proof of relationship, such as a Medicare card or birth certificate.

 

No firearms licence is required to take part, but all participants must complete a safety briefing and be able to understand and follow instructions in English. Adults are required to present valid photo identification, it maybe a digital IDs via the Service NSW app. The session typically includes one-on-one supervision, rounds of ammunition, firearm and range hire, safety equipment, and a compulsory safety briefing.

A try shooting session for clay targets is a fun and safe introduction to the sport. It begins with a safety briefing and instruction on how to handle a shotgun. Participants learn to aim and shoot at clay targets launched into the air. Guided by an instructor, they practice hitting targets from various angles. The session is supportive and engaging, making it ideal for beginners looking to experience the thrill of clay target shooting.

A pistol try shooting session offers a thrilling intro to handgun use, starting with safety and handling basics. Participants shoot both .22 caliber pistols, known for low recoil and ease of use, and 9mm pistols, offering more power and realism. Under close supervision, shooters aim at paper & electronic targets, gaining confidence and skill. It’s a safe, structured, and exciting way to experience the sport.
